The Wando Carriage

WANDO was constructed by the Victorian Railways and entered service on the Mildura line in 1910. It was one of two E-Class sleeper carriages constructed solely for the Victorian Railways and not for use on the Melbourne to Adelaide Overland. WANDO is therefore one of just two carriages that includes 10 twinette sleepers with the additional compartment occupying the Gentleman's smoking lounge that was a feature of the other E-Class sleepers.

WANDO served as part of Victoria's sleeping car stock until 1965 when it entered service on the Train of Knowledge, a school camp train operated by the Victorian Railways.

WANDO retains its ornate Edwardian panelling, opening windows and other original features.

WANDO Carriage Layout

WANDO contains 10 2-berth twin compartments. Note that due to the age of WANDO, shower facilities are located in adjacent carriages.
