SJ Carriages
Our fully restored ex-Overland twinette cars were constructed by the Victorian and South Australian Railways in 1950 to operate on the overnight Overland train between Melbourne and Adelaide.
In 1972 the car was sold to the Victorian Railways and it entered service on the Vinelander between Melbourne and Mildura.
Following the withdrawal of the Vinelander in 1993 the carriage was stored until being restored by 707 Operations volunteers in 2011.
SJ Carriage Layout
Each SJ carriage originally included 10 2-berth en-suite cabins and accommodated 20 people.
